I was inspired by watching this video:
So I busted out a sketchbook, fountain pen, and a water brush and started thumbnailing and doing multiple iterations. A really cool way to work. The first one was a flat-on side view, awkward pose, looking more like a blind man tapping his cane across the street than a swordsman. But because I had done it I was able to extrapolate a perspective view with a much stronger pose and start working out the problematic hand. I also decided I didn't like the black Tombow markers.
